Major Investment in New Melting Facility Nears Completion

Major Investment in New Melting Facility Nears Completion back to list

10 May 2020

Our new melting facility is nearing completion. Despite a short delay as a result of the current pandemic our new melting facility is nearing completion. After a significant period of planning our building contractor broke ground in January on our new 650m2 building which will house new 2 tonne and 1 tonne medium frequency induction furnaces.

The new furnaces will give us increased capacity whilst improving productivity, flexibility and metallurgical control. The building is due to be completed at the end of June with the furnaces and mechanised charging system to be commissioned by the start of August.

This investment is the second stage of our investment program of modernising the foundry. Last year we invested in a new hanger shot blast and robotic grinding machines. This summer we will be upgrading our moulding line, lengthening and mechanising our casting tracks in addition to commissioning our new melting facility.

These major investments in production facilities and our very strong balance sheet secure the future of production at J&J Siddons and sets us up for the coming years.
